When we first arrived the room stank of smoke, however after mentioning this to the guy at reception he apologised and gave us another room. The new room we got was spotless and the staff could not have been more helpful. Very surprised at the quality of hotel for only £50 a night.
Original room was saturated with the smell of smoke.

The proprietors were very friendly/helpful and although we were in a noisy location - the rooms we stayed in were sound proofed. There were two parts to this hotel and we were fortunate enough to stay in what appeared to be an extension so the rooms were relatively new. I am not sure whether the other rooms were up to the standard of these rooms.

The staff were so friendly and helpful. They couldnt be faulted.
The hotel could do with a bit of tlc and basic diy. The curtain rails were coming down in our room. However at the end of the day we just needed somewhere to sleep and leave our bags through the day.

Its value for money was good as compared to other hotels or b&b,s but I wasn,t bothered about how luxurious it was, it was only for the 1 night to get to thorpe park the following morning nice and early. It was as expected for the money, as you can guess you will encounter many workers travelling and staying here which really didn,t worry me. The staff were pretty good and helpful and courteous, facilities were good, clean room, adequate beds and bedding, although could of done with some more pillows as my guests were used to 2 or 3 in their own beds and the 1 provided were just a bit on the flat side, breakfast more than reasonable and set us up for the day. Will stay again if I visit the area. Many reviews seen on the internet complained the hotel was directly under the path of airport traffic, but what do you expect when you book an hotel right near Heathrow airport ??? I kind of expected this and wasn,t put off.
Well, little really to complain about.. Only when we first arrived we were put in a family triple room which is what I booked and reserved but upon arrival we were given that room only to be asked to move to a family room with a double and a single,, ( which to be honest was a better room ) and wasn,t a problem with the sleeping arrangements,, but would of been for the 3 men who should of had our room lol.. Just obviously a booking error the staff need to improve on. But still we obliged to change and that sorted all the problems out. The rooms could of been a little cleaner as my partner complained to me that the bathroom was a little untidy. A little more bedding wouldn,t go amiss ( more pillows please ).. a little more inspection to the rooms could have been carried out, because from when we got sorted in the room with luggage my partner put the kettle on for a cuppa and found that when it had boiled it was found that the previous tenants had ( as a joke i,m guessing ) put water and teabags in the kettle only to be found by us and made a mess of the kettle. But luckily I seen the funny side of that, whereas some people would of probably blown a fuse.. Just a little more attention to cleanliness for presentation to forthcoming guests would probably give the Shalimar more positive feedback. But regardless of any complaints, it was a good stay and would stay again .. Overall just little things really... Think iv,e seen worse. If I was to rate the Shalimar,, then maybe 8 out of 10

The staff were friendly and did move me to another room when I complained. The location was 5 mins from where I was working.
The first room I was put in, the bed springs had come through the mattress. I was move to another room which was better but the carpets were dirty. I went for breakfast and the bread was green mouldy. The corridors were dirty and stunk. The hotel needs a very good clean.

Shalimar location afford me the luxury of being close to Heathrow Airport in case of whenever Iam going back to my country; I reach the airport within a twinkle of an eye.
It is a bit of a distance from either Hounslow Central and Hounslow West Train Stations. But it is still manageable anyway.

Staff are good and useful (usually:D).
It was like a disaster when you plan to go to London and will be in a undergrand tain more than one hour?!!!!!!!!!! Also you have to pay at least 5 pounds for going there and coming back!!!!!!!!!!! Then you have to walk for 10 minutes or catch a bus!!! So, I prefer to stay in more close hotel with higher price. Also, the quality of the rooms were so bad that I haven't seen these kind of rooms in more than 10 countries that I have been and also cheaper hotel in Manchester!!!! Do not choose there unless your have to be in Hounslow district (Book 20 pounds more expensive hotel in London).
